Kids Club meets every wednessday from September through April at 6:30pm and lasts until 8:00pm. During this time, children from kindergarden through 6th grade enjoy games, memorize verses, learn Bible stories that help grow and know God, and enjoy eating fun snacks before returning home. We also have a van ministry available to pick up children needing rides in the village of Parma.
Parma Baptist Youth Group
Our Youth Group meets most Sundays from 6:00pm to 7:30. They often participate in experiential activities or activity time that helps build unity and fellowship. Small group time gives students the opportunity to listen to each other's needs and pray for one another, as well as to praise God for answered prayer. We take time each time we meet to worship through singing and teaching God's Word. The Youth Group is also involved in mission trips and other community action activities. Youth from grades 7 to 12 attend.
Currently, several in our youth group are preparing to travel to Orem, Utah on a mission trip to support our area missionaries, Daniel and Aja Long, who recently began a new church plant. We will be involved in several projects where the present group in meeting. We will also participate in service eveangelism, sports evangelism, and some other ways of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
Hospitality Ministry shows our commitment to Jesus throughout the body of Christ by meeting needs in both our church family and in our community where God has placed us. A guest of Parma Baptist Church who is attending may represent years of prayer, service and invitation by a church member or another person. For that reason we value the ministry of hospitality and how God uses it for his glory. Out team also helps with potluck dinners, association meetings that our church may host, funeral dinners, and providing meals to families in need due to circumstances of illness, surgery, or when a new baby arrives. This is a wonderful area for people to be involved in that demonstrates God's love in very tangible ways.
Our Education Ministry fulfills an essential role of Christian education for children and adults of all ages at Parma Baptist Church. We have classes available for all ages during Sunday School. During the combined worship service we offer Children's Church for children up to the 3rd grade. Youth Group (7th-12th) meets Sunday evenings and our Kid's Club meets Wednesday nights from September to April. We also have Release Time Bible School one Thursday a month from October through April when we pick up children at Parma Elementary. Our goal is to teach sound biblical truths and principles that result in equipping believers to grow in the Christian faith and develop a Christ-like lifestyle. We believe all of us have a responsibility to teach/disciple others in some setting, whether it be parents teaching their children, those gifted to teach teaching a class or small group, or simply one-on-one discipleship when someone gets saved.
God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Members of our church family who are gifted in singing or playing an instrument are an important part this ministry of Parma Baptist Church. By using their talents to glorify God, they help lead the congregation to focus on worshiping the Living God as we exalt Him and sing praises to His name. Our church family enjoys a range of music such as older gospel hymns, newer hymns, contempory songs, new song and fun children's songs. We realize many believers have personal preferences of the kinds of songs they enjoy more than others. We do not allow these personal differences to hinder our worship and our fellowship.
Psalm 98:1 "Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! For He has done marvelous things;"
Our Outreach Ministry seeks to provide our Parma Baptist Church family the opportunity to follow God in the joyful pursuit of reaching those who are unsaved, who have not yet placed their trust in Jesus for dying on the cross for their sins. God explains to us that it is our sin that separates us from having a relationship with God in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But even though the ultimate penalty of sin is death (being separated from God for eternity in hell), God offers us the gift of eternal life with Him in heaven through faith alone in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son (Romans 6:23; John 3:16). This faith which brings eternal life is a gift from God. We can not earn it by doing good things in the same way we do not earn birthday gifts. It is by God's grace (kindness) we are saved (Ephesians 2:8,9). In humility, we are invited by God to call upon Him for salvation and receive His forgiveness for our sins. It is at this moment that God declares us righteous and begins to dwell in us, giving us peace and power to live in obedience to Him. Jesus tells us Himself in John 14:6 that there are no other ways that man can have a relationship with God, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, accept through me." Our outreach ministries plan meaningful events that bring our people together to share about Jesus. We also have partnered with area churches in various ways to reach more people.
Building & Maintenance Ministries
Share a special skill (plumbing, electrical, painting, landscaping, etc.) on this team that ensures our buildings and property are maintained in a timely and professional manner. Our church family works together to maintain the main church building, two 15-passenger vans that are housed in a garage, a few acres of grass, and a parsonage located at 180 N. Harrington. This is a great area to serve in where many people are able to use a variety of abilities based on their time and talents. Our desire is to make our church family's home look beautiful for Jesus and all who enjoy our facilities.
Home Fellowship Groups
The Home Fellowship Groups provide a family environment where a small group can gather together in a safe, relaxed setting to develop stronger relationships, study God's Word, and fellowship with one another. Most often we conduct these groups in one or two homes. This year we chose to meet the first Sunday at the church, where we enjoy a potluck dinner together before splitting up into two groups. We have about 50 that are involved, including children who have lots of fun playing together. During the small group time the adults and some high school age teens have been working through the book of 1 Peter. One the third Sunday of the month we begin these gatherings in two homes. The Home Fellowship Groups are free to meet at other times if they choose but most of the time, Sunday after church has been the time of choice. God has used these groups to strengthen our church as a whole in many ways! All are welcome to sit in on a Home Fellowship Group, whether a Christian or if one is just seeking truth about God.
